A Performance-Ritual of Music, Poetry & Immersive Visual Art
Featuring Negar Dena Afazel
The Origami House | Tickets: $20
The Origami House invites you to experience Seeking Peace, a unique performance-ritual that brings together solo violin, poetry, and immersive visual art in an exploration of the many dimensions of peace.
Moving beyond the traditional concert experience, Seeking Peace creates space for something more intimate, participatory, and deeply human. Through the interplay of sound, story, and imagery, the performance invites us to consider what peace means to each of us, where we find it, and what it asks of us. This is an experience to feel as much as to witness, leaving room for reflection, emotion, and the unexpected connections that can emerge when we gather together.
At The Origami House, we are drawn to experiences that invite us to listen differently, encounter new perspectives, and discover what becomes possible when music brings us into closer relationship with ourselves and one another. Seeking Peace offers just such an invitation.
About the Performance
An artist statement by Negar Dena Afazel
“I shape my music through the stories that must be told. For me, music is the essential element
that elevates storytelling into what I define as a ‘performance-ritual’: a multidisciplinaryexperience intentionally designed to dissolve the boundary between performer and participant.
Inspired by silenced voices and authentic, untamed themes, I weave sound and narrative togetheruntil the music becomes the expression and the audience becomes the feeling. One is notmeaningful without the other. I believe music possesses a singular power to comfort, connect, and catalyze change; it creates a restorative space where we can celebrate our shared humanityand reclaim our collective resilience.
Seeking Peace is a performance-ritual that explores the multifaceted nature of peace through interwoven layers of solo violin music, poetry, and immersive visual art. Far from a passive concert experience, this is a live performance that invites an active psychological and emotional dialogue. It is an invitation for you to sit with the concept of peace—to embrace it, to be uncomfortable with it, to cry, to remember, and to reflect.
This musical journey is driven entirely by all-female composers, culminating in the world premieres of two original pieces by Jane Kozhevnikova and Sarah Rimkus.”
