Seeking Our Way - July Creative Workshops - Part #2

Seeking Our Way is a two-part creative workshop series inspired by Seeking Will | Rapua a Will, our community-made book.
Explore how we navigate life's storms together through collective art-making and storytelling.
Part 1: Nature-based storm mapping and bookmaking (Arataki Visitor Centre).
Part 2: Painting and marking storm layers and creating translucent books (Te Uru Gallery).
Two workshops woven together - or attend separately. Artworks from both workshops will be woven into a collaborative Seeking Our Way installation at Arataki in August.
Join Emma Hinton, creator of Seeking Will and The Light Library, for this creative exploration.
Supported by Auckland Council, Arataki Visitor Centre, Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery and Waitākere Ranges Local Board.

WORKSHOP 2: STORM LAYERS
Saturday 18 July, 10:30am-12pm
Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery
Paint storm layers exploring colour, movement and energy. Overlay translucent paper and draw/trace through, from our storm maps made in Part 1. Cut storm shapes and make a translucent layered book to take home.

WHAT YOU DO:
Make your own storm book to take home from each workshop
Be part of a collaborative art installation at Arataki (August 2026)
WHO IS INVITED:
All ages and whānau welcome, Children and adults can participate together. Recommended for ages 6+
Caregivers must accompany children under 14.

$10 per participant (caregivers free)

INSTALLATION:
Artworks created across both workshops will be woven together into a Seeking Our Way installation at Arataki Visitor Centre (August). The installation explores storms as both disruptive and creative forces.
