About this Event
Join the Soil Ecology Lab/Soil Smiths, Daniel Tyrkiel and Jonny Furze, to discover how nurturing life at the smallest scale can help heal soils, improve plant vigour, and transform the way we grow.
Saving seeds connects us to the land and to the plants that feed us, delight us, and shape our environments. But there’s an often-overlooked partner in this story: the invisible community of living microorganisms that plants depend on to thrive. Much of the world’s soil has lost this vital life, leaving plants to struggle without the allies that have evolved alongside.
In this talk, Daniel Tyrkiel will explore how beneficial microbes can restore the connection between plants and soil, and how microbes help plants access nutrients, improve soil structure, handle stress, and strengthen resilience in changing and challenging environments.
There will also be an opportunity to purchase GOOP – the Soil Smiths own living feed product you can use to inoculate your seeds and nourish your soil.
