About this Event
Interested in learning how to start seeding for the spring season? Join us for an interactive, hands-on workshop with local farmer and expert Dulce Morales, of Cedillo's Fresh Produce. Dulce will be leading the group on seeding spinach, onions, and radishes. Participants will also be able to select seeds available in our Firehouse Market. Materials will be provided, however we do encourage participants to bring their own pots if possible, or any container they would like to take their seedling home.
Participants can expect to learn how we seed in March, so they can start planting in April and harvesting by May. You'll also learn how to prepare their gardens in early spring.
* This workshop is kid-friendly and Spanish translating is available.
About the Instructor: Dulce Morales learned the benefits of herbal teas and growing your own food from her grandmother, other community members, and through independent research. She has been the face of Cedillo’s Fresh produce for seven years.
About Cedillo's Fresh Produce: Cedillo’s Fresh Produce is a family run farm located at 325 W 70th Place in Englewood. Founder Juan Cedillo is a third generation farmer who learned most of his skills working alongside his father and grandfather. Co-founder and leader, Dulce Morales has been learning all the ins and outs of farming and has worked with Oscar Villa from BeeUtiful Honey & Candles to manage, harvest and become her own beekeeper. Cedillo's Fresh Produce provides organically grown, seasonal, farm-fresh produce to Chicago metro-area residents.
