Join us at the Spruce Pine Public Library for a special seed swap event celebrating local seeds, Appalachian traditions, and the stories that connect them. This gathering will feature William Ritter of SongToSeed, a seasoned old-time fiddler, seed-saver, and ballad singer from the mountains of Mitchell County. William is deeply passionate about preserving and sharing the region’s cultural heritage, weaving together stories, songs, and seeds as living expressions of community resilience. He believes these old ways hold essential wisdom for the future and he brings them to life through music, storytelling, and hands-on seed sharing.
SongToSeed practices, celebrates, and advocates for traditional Appalachian seed-saving and music traditions by growing and sharing historic regional crops, supporting events rooted in Appalachian folkways, and creating educational programs and resources for communities.
