What is Security Onion?

Security Onion is a free and open platform built by defenders for defenders. It includes network visibility, host visibility, intrusion detection honeypots, log management, and case management. Security Onion has been downloaded over 2.3 million times and is being used by security teams around the world to monitor and defend their enterprises. Our easy-to-use Setup wizard allows you to build an army of distributed sensors for your enterprise in minutes!

Why should I attend the Security Onion Conference?

We will have several prominent members of the community giving talks about tools and techniques (see speaker lineup below). This is your chance to meet with other members of the community, enjoy presentations about Security Onion and other blue team topics, and learn something valuable!

We'll also have some special activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the company behind the platform, Security Onion Solutions.

Where is the conference being held?

This year's conference is being held at the beautiful Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center (aka Georgia Cyber Center).

Park in the adjacent parking deck. Parking at that deck (and only that deck) is free for attendees. Attendees will be provided one validated parking pass for that deck.

Is there a preferred hotel?

Security Onion Conference uses the same preferred hotels as the BSidesAugusta conference. You can find those here.

What if I'm attending any of the training events 9/30-10/3 associated with BSidesAugusta?

Security Onion Conference will be held in the same building as the BSidesAugusta training classes, so just come back after the last day of your class! ALL BSidesAugusta training classes include admission to Security Onion Conference on 10/4 and BSidesAugusta on 10/5. If you registered for any BSidesAugusta training classes, watch your e-mail for more details closer to the date of the conference. Please note that BSidesAugusta general admission tickets are not valid for Security Onion Conference.

What is the registration deadline?

The last day to register for a General Admission ticket is Friday, September 27.

Please note that NO tickets will be sold at the door. All attendees must pre-purchase their tickets.

Will there be Security Onion training before the Conference this year?

Yes! We are offering Security Onion Fundamentals for Analysts and Administrators, September 30 - October 3, during BSidesAugusta's Training Week. For more information and a link to register, click here.

What's the refund policy?

Is there a discount for students or employees of non-profit companies?

Can I use multiple discount codes?

Sorry, discounts cannot be combined.

Does my Security Onion Conference ticket admit me to BSidesAugusta (or vice versa)?

No. They must be purchased separately unless you are purchasing a training class during BSidesAugusta's training week. Only BSidesAugusta training classes include a ticket to both Security Onion Conference and BSidesAugusta.
