The Tirsia security training curriculum is a modernized system in use-of-force and defensive tactics widely used as a standard in the private security industry.
The Security Instructor L1 & L2 course focus is a 4-day mental and physically intensive course on the the fundamentals of risk assessment, critical decision-making and physical application on use-of-force that is essential for every security personnel.
Tactics: The combatives training we offer is pragmatic and concise integrating our various backgrounds in weapons. Muay Thai, Jiu-jitsu, and Pekiti-Tirsia Kali concepts.
Methods of Instruction: We adhere to the nationally-recognized principles of Methods of Instruction as participants delve into hands-on application, theory, and reality-based scenarios.
Instructor Development: Participants will refine their delivery to enhance transfer of information for better information retention. A heavy emphasis is placed on learning not just 'how' to do a technique, but also the 'whys'.
The course prioritizes officer safety, legal considerations, and realistic tactics over flashy and complicated techniques.
Participants should be prepared for intense physical and hands-on activity.
PREREQUISITES:
* Valid Ontario security license or police experience
* Minimum 2 years of full-time security experience or police experience
* Vetted civilians / martial arts instructors with no criminal record may be eligible
* Capabilities to engage in moderate to intense physical drills
COURSE FOCUS:
* Use-of-Force Legal Framework
* Arrest, Control & Custody
* Subject Control Tactics
* Integration of Extendable Baton
* Legal & ethical considerations for use-of-force
Participant Requirements:
* Duty belt w/ handcuffs
* Extendable baton & holder (ASP, Nextorch, S&W)
* Sneakers or wrestling shoes (No boots)
* BDU/cargo-style pants, athletic top
* Hydration, meals, snacks
The Instructor:
Police Combatives Instructor Chris Mandigma is a former federal law enforcement officer and instructor. He now instructs combatives and firearms internationally as a government contractor.
