Like a Drop Pod screaming in from orbit, it's back! The Secret Santa returns for 2022, after a couple of years of absence due to some weird things like the years 2020 and 2021.We're running a Secret Santa here in store this year from the 21st of November, and if it's anything like previous years, it's going to be a fun one full of hobby shenanigans for everyone involved. Everyone taking part in The Secret Santa will be able to collect their gifts after Christmas on the 28th of December.
Here's how it's all supposed to work:
Everybody taking part will have a gift list written up, full of hobby wonder. The minimum amount to spend in this years Secret Santa is $60. It can be a combination of items to get that amount spent. Keep in mind there is no upper limit, if you want to be truly generous you can definitely be so.
I'm starting the Secret Santa shenanigans off by sorting out my gift list in store by the 21st of November, then writing my name on a tag and putting it on our Christmas tree.
The next person taking part will grab my tag off the tree, buys something off the gift list (yes, I know it's not really a surprise for me, but it's important), sorts out their own gift list (preferably ahead of the purchasing time!), writes their name on a tag, and puts it on the tree.
The person after that then grabs that tag, buys the previous person a gift, and the cycle continues.
During our fantastic Unboxing Day celebrations, whoever is the last person in the loop, will be getting a gift from me. And I tend to think big! This way I'm not getting a gift for nothing - considering I'm starting it all, it's only fair! I'll also be buying someone else at random who takes part in Secret Santa a gift as well!
What do you do if the only stuff on the persons gift list is too much above that $60 mark? Quite simply, you can buy them a Gift Voucher and that'll count.
