Secret Emchy Society

It’s the voice that hits you first. It’s big, a bit boisterous. It’s a voice that makes you grin, but it’s also sad and wise, and very observant. It’s a voice that stands you to a shot and a beer, kicks you out onto the dance floor despite your silly misgivings. It’s Cindy Emch’s voice - in every meaning of that word--that comes through on the pioneering queer-country singer and songwriter’s new album The Chaser.

Recorded with her long-running band, The Secret Emchy Society, The Chaser gives Cindy’s funny, deep songs an equally big voice. It’s a record of exact portraiture, country style. Cindy Emch knows how human beings behave when they’re in bars, when they’re lonely, and when they’re in love. And when they’re out of love. The Chaser is the work of an original who looks beyond Saturday night, toward an eternal present.

Lowstar Rodeo (Kevin Carducci)

Born in California and raised in the middle states, Kevin came up among hollowed out towns of America’s ‘Rust Belt’. Feeling forever out of place, he turned to music as an escape - sneaking into many a bar and dance hall before he was old enough to drink. This line of behavior eventually led him to the regular country music jam at a rural Pennsylvania roadhouse called The Northgate Inn. Inside that old honky tonk - named for it’s location across from the livestock gate at the Crawford County Fairgrounds - he found his place among a crowd of hard picking & hard livin old timers who welcomed him and his friends into the fold, encouraging them to carry on a thread of timeless country music who’s legacy meanders across the continent from the hills of Appalachia to the Central Valley of California.
Upon returning to California, Kevin landed in the agricultural community of Sonoma County and co-founded The Easy Leaves, becaming a regular on the west coast country circuit. Healming the band on national & international tours, Kevin shared stages with the likes of Dwight Yoakam & Willie Nelson, spearheaded the annual ’Western Winter Formal’ at San Francisco’s legendary Great American Music Hall, and most importantly, built a stable of damn fine songs based on a wealth of experience.
Kevin’s newest material continues to follow the same country troubadour tradition he fell into in that Rust Belt roadhouse. He's crafted a collection of songs about hard work & heartache that are equally at home under dance hall neon lights, as they are in the pindrop silence of a listening room. They’re danceable and lyrically driven, and performed with an earnest warm vocal style distinctly his own, yet undeniably apiece with the meandering thread of American country music.
