??? ??: This month we return to @screendoor.ybor with a somewhat forgotten late ‘80s blaxploitation parody: ?’? ????? ??? ??? ?????. Written, directed by, and starring Keenen Ivory Wayans just before he went on to create and host the legendary sketch comedy series ?? ?????? ????? in the early 1990s, the zany ?’? ????? ??? ??? ????? never loses sight of its love and respect for the blaxploitation genre, despite its satirical nature. It pays tribute to the groundbreaking films that paved the way for black representation in cinema and acknowledges their cultural significance.
The film also features a who’s who of classic ‘70s blaxploitation films (Jim Brown, Bernie Casey, Antonio Fargas, Isaac Hayes) and a stacked roster of character actors (John Vernon, Kadeem Hardison, Ja'net Dubois, John Witherspoon, Damon Wayans, Clarence Williams III, Chris Rock).
