Join us for our monthly open house art reception for our member artists and the closing reception for our guest artist, Sonia Whittle.Sonia's Bio:
Sonia Whittle was born in New Rochelle, New York in 1972. A graduate of George Mason University, School of Art; her interest in art was established at an early age and cultivated in a household of self-trained artists. Upon relocating to Oakland, CA, Sonia painted in private while making a name for herself as a spoken word artist and vocalist. Until now, her paintings have mainly adorned the walls of her home. After more than a 10-year hiatus Sonia returns painting with a new focus. She credits this homecoming to the forced reclamation of time during the Shelter-in-Place order due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Sonia is showing conceptual acrylic paintings in the style of realism and figurative charcoal pieces.
We will also celebrate the work of our all women exhibition members; Latisha Baker (pyrography), Renata Gray (ceramics), Ajuan Mance (illustrator and writer), Brianna Mills (photography), Michelle Tompkins (abstract), and Orlonda Uffre (acrylic paintings and prints).
