Second Annual Midwest EMS Whole Blood Summit
About this Event
The inaugural Midwest EMS Whole Blood Summit was imagined for EMS systems and agencies in the Midwest. What happened next was not in the plan.
Attendees left Detroit and went home to launch or accelerate prehospital whole blood programs around the Midwest, as far away as Oregon, Colorado, Florida, and points in between. A regional gathering turned into a pivotal launch point for programs across the country.
The formal agenda will be published by September 1. Due to last years succes, the event may be at capacity by the time it is released.
Day One: The Why (Begins at 11 am)
This years event opens with an expanded case for prehospital whole blood, and and examination of everything EMS systems have learned in the past year about blood products and components. We will also go deep into stakeholder alignment and engagement, and end with a physician panel Q&A.
That evening, two things will run concurrently:
• Doc to Doc Dinner for EMS and system physicians
• Hands-On Demo for providers: blood supply, storage, and delivery equipment you can put your hands on
Day Two: The How (8 am – 5 pm)
Day two focuses on the clinical and operational side of blood programs. Clinical quality oversight, data, and reporting, in addition to blood supply, exchange, and contribution. National physician leaders will also present on making the case inside your local clinical and political structures.
The afternoon is spent examining implementation learning lessons, presented by the physicians and agency leaders that lived them. One rural, one suburban, one large city. Different budgets, different geography, different obstacles. Same goal.
