About this Event

Seat @ The Table: Reclaiming the Radical Legacy of Dr. King

On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, join a prophetic and powerful gathering that reclaims Dr. King’s radical legacy—rooted in justice, equity, and liberation from birth to burial. Seat @ The Table is not a commemoration; it is a continuation. Together, communities of faith, educators, and organizers will confront the question:

“What has happened, what is happening, and what will happen?”

This evening centers the struggle for equity in Washington, DC’s public schools and beyond—lifting the voices of families, students, and advocates who are shaping the city’s future.!

Featured Guest

Jessica Giles, Executive Director of the DC Education Coalition for Change, will lead a prophetic discussion on the state of DC public education—past, present, and future. Her insights will guide a collective reflection on how Dr. King’s vision of the Beloved Community demands transformation in classrooms, policies, and hearts.

Program Highlights
  • Opening Invocation: Interfaith reflection led by Neighborhood Folks
  • Keynote Conversation: Jessica Giles on “Equity from Birth to Burial”
  • Community Dialogue: “What Has Happened, What Is Happening, What Will Happen”
  • Artistic Offering: Seeds of Change Collective performance
  • Call to Action: Building the 51st State of Mind and Right to Learn campaigns
