Here’s what to expect from a Seasons Art Class:
- To ensure we get everything on the syllabus into each class we will be aiming to start all lessons punctually. The room will be open 20 minutes before sessions begin so there’s time for a quick cup of tea or coffee while you settle in and a chance to chat with your fellow learners.
- Our classes are structured with a demonstration and explanation of the techniques and media and then you’ll be given plenty of time to put into practice what you have learned.
- During the class you’ll stop for a break with more refreshments and more chances to chat with others.
- Throughout the session your tutor will provide one-on-one support should you require a little extra help or guidance.
- Our assistants are on hand to keep you fuelled with drinks and biscuits and topped up with all the art materials you need to get the most from your class.
When you learn how to draw and paint with us you will have ample opportunities for social interaction with your fellow students. This is particularly welcome for those who’d like to make connections and build friendships with like-minded others.
The experience of being a beginner or improving artist – and the progression you observe in yourself and your classmates – creates a wonderful sense of camaraderie.
Exploring Your Creativity
If you’ve never tried anything artistic then you may wonder whether you’ll be ‘any good’. In our considerable experience our students are almost always beyond thrilled by the progress that they make throughout their 14-week course – and even after their first lessons in drawing and painting.
Any educational class that you take as an adult will benefit your personal growth – it’s never too late to learn and grow! And art will also gift you with a sense of fulfilment and joy through creative expression.
Quickfire FAQs For First-Time Art Class Attendees
Here’s what you might want to know before taking your very first lessons in drawing and painting with us:
What skill level do I need for a Seasons Art Class?
Many prospective students worry about their artistic skill – or lack of experience – and wonder if the class will be suitable for them. Please be reassured that the Seasons Art Class format is designed for beginners and improvers.
What art materials do I need? Are some materials provided?
You don’t need to worry as we supply everything you need for your course – art materials are built into the cost. The only thing you need to bring is yourself and a positive attitude.
Will there be homework?
We provide full-colour handouts as a reference for what you have learned in class but ‘homework’ isn’t mandatory. That said we find that many of our students are so inspired by their newfound skills that they choose to draw or paint in between classes.
Will there be naked life models in any of the lessons?
No – we do not include naked life models in the figurative drawing and/or painting lessons as part of the Seasons curriculum.
I don’t know what to wear to an art class?!
We encourage our students to wear old clothing and shoes that are comfy and allow freedom of movement during the class. If we’re doing something that is potentially messy – like acrylic painting – then opt for clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or stained. We do provide aprons in class. Layers are always a good idea so you can adjust your clothing accordingly. We keep the venue nice and warm/cool depending on the time of year. Some students still like to bring a cushion for ultimate comfort. Overall when it comes to what to wear to an art class we recommend that you feel comfy so that you can unleash your full creative potential!
Hopefully this has provided you with reassurance on what to expect from your first lessons in drawing and painting at a Seasons Art Class. Our classes are a great way to learn new artistic skills – or further develop your creativity – in a warm setting where you can meet and make friends with like-minded others.
Some more FAQ

Each of our courses is 14 weeks long culminating in a gallery-style exhibition to showcase the work you have created during your time with us. They are held once a week for each of the 14 weeks and you can choose either a morning or afternoon slot to fit in with your other commitments subject to availability.
What happens if I miss a class?
The individual modules are structured in a way that means – if you miss a class – you can easily catch up with the tutor and classroom assistant offering one-on-one help where needed. We run the same class four times a week at two different locations so there is plenty of opportunity for you to attend and catch up on another day. We also have full-colour handouts with instructions for each lesson so you can catch up in your own time should you miss a session.
How many students are in a class?
Numbers vary according to the size and capacity of each venue but we do have a maximum class size to ensure everyone gets plenty of individual input from the two Seasons Art Class team members per class.

We enjoy an average of 50 – 75% student return rate time after time. The combination of their achievements our progressive curriculums and newfound art class friends keeps our students coming back again and again.
What mediums do you teach?
You will be given step-by-step tuition in sketching and drawing techniques oil pastels watercolour painting and the comparatively modern medium of acrylics. We will also teach you how to temporarily mount your picture for an exhibition and if you return for further courses you learn about other techniques tools or mediums with different subject matter.
Is this Course suitable for beginners?
Yes that is the simple answer. It’s ideal! Each term starts with an introduction to the module and the individual classes are then designed for students who are learning to paint and draw for the first time.
What if I return for another course?
If you are a returning student you will be given more advanced projects designed to take you to the next level. Our improvers receive a level of teaching that is appropriate to their experience.
Will I be able to paint and draw by the end of the course?
We have never had a student who couldn’t achieve something of a good standard in our classes. Everyone learns at their own pace but most join us as complete beginners and can’t believe what they are achieving by even the second or third week!
If you are willing to learn and apply yourself you will become an ‘enthusiastic amateur artist’ and by the end of the 14 weeks will be creating pictures you will be proud of!
