About this Event
A Celebration of Baroque Mastery and Modern Voices
Join us as we open the season with a vibrant and wide-ranging program that bridges centuries of musical imagination. The evening begins with Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, performed in its original orchestration for 3 violins, 3 violas, 3 cellos, continuo, and double bass—offering a thrilling display of Baroque brilliance. We continue with the dramatic intensity of his Harpsichord Concerto in D minor, and the vibrant charm of Vivaldi’s Sinfonia in C major.
The program then moves into the Romantic and modern worlds with Grieg’s Prelude from the Holberg Suite, the bold and energetic Concerto Grosso No. 1 by Ernest Bloch (featuring piano obbligato), and Musical Moment by Canadian composer Kento Stratford, offering a contemplative and expressive solo piano work.
We close with the rhythmic vitality of Juan Durán’s Divertimento (movements I, II, and V), a contemporary piece full of color and character for string orchestra.
This season opener is a festive celebration of tradition and innovation—uniting timeless masterpieces with fresh contemporary voices in one inspiring evening.
