The public is invited to join our artsy and intellectual casual Salon del RGV conversations on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at CommonSpace coffee shop in McAllen.Our February 12th Featured Speaker and Featured Artist is Michael Jones, artist, poet, and intellectual currently living in McAllen, Texas. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and is currently editing a manuscript on the History of Philosophy based on lessons he developed during an extended tutorial project. As an artist and poet, Michael goes by the letter M. His paintings have been included in shows at IMAS and UTRGV Brownsville, as well as having hung around McAllen in establishments such as Roosevelt’s, Kreative Grounds and CommonSpace. His poetry appears in the forthcoming anthology “I Love Us: Queer Voices from South Texas and the Borderlands” (FlowerSong Press.)

“Salon” sa•lon noun 1. an artful conversation held monthly where artists, writers, and arts professionals, and arts and philosophy-minded individuals come together to bond, network and get out of their heads for a little while. It is a conversation; a support group; sometimes a counseling session; always a networking extravaganza; an experimental lab for new ideas; a place to learn and grow by leaps and bounds as an artist and a professional.
