ARTISTS STATEMENT
As individual artists and a collaborative team, in December of 2024, Columbus-based Nikki and Matt Swift celebrate 25 years exploring audio visual technology to craft meaning out of the past, present and possible future that they encounter. Phases brings together their individual works with one focusing on the past we have not yet learned from and keep repeating and the other projecting a future outcome that seems to loom in the distance. Featuring new video loops, Nikki explores the cycles of America’s leadership through broadcast communications juxtaposed against a collage of landscapes that have been crafted in way that have negated human connection with each other, while Matt meditates on a fever dream of the endless cycle of our planet fighting against us to recover from our consumer-based aggressions. Phases, a distinct period of time for development and change, the cycles of the celestial bodies, to carry out over many years, and to adjust especially to synchronize.
Exhibit will continue thru January 18, 2025 with the exception of our GALLERY HOLIDAY BREAK (SCG will be Closed during the Holiday Season, December 18 thru January 1).
Exhibit will re-open on January 2, 2025 with a Mid-Exhibition “Gallery Hop” Public Reception on January 4, 4-9pm. Show will come to an end on Jan 18, 1:30-3:30pm.
