Seafood Futures Forum 2026

The MSC will be hosting this year’s Seafood Futures Forum on Wednesday 22 April 2026 at 9am CEST, live from Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona. The event is free and you can attend and hear from our guest speakers, either in person or online.

The seafood sector has made huge strides in sustainability over the last 30 years. But the present moment poses significant challenges: pressure on profits, regulatory change, geopolitical uncertainty and increasingly price-conscious consumers.

Join us at Taking the Long View: The Business Case for Sustainable Seafood, and hear from a leading industry figure whose decades-long commitment to sustainable sourcing exceeded consumer expectations and helped drive change across the industry and the oceans. Drawing on this experience, the session will explore why long-term sustainability commitments are not a cost, but a way to secure supply, reduce risk and maintain the trust of customers, retailers, investors and regulators.

The discussion will also look at how businesses can respond to evolving consumer trends, better positioning seafood as good for human health and the planet, and as part of a food system that works for both people and nature.

Directions to the Fira Barcelona

Room 4.1 is located on the upper floor within Hall 4 of the Fira Barcelona. Please enter the Fira via the South Entrance and follow the signs up the escalators to CC4. There will be ushers at the South Entrance to provide directions. We recommend giving yourself extra time, in order to arrive on time.

Note: Everyone attending in person will also need a pass to Seafood Expo Global. Please contact your local MSC contact if you’d like assistance securing a free pass to the event.

Are any health and safety protocols in place?

The health and safety of our attendees is our primary concern. We are in constant communication with the organising team for Seafood Expo Global and the venue Fira de Barcelona and we will be following their protocols.

What can I bring into the event?

As the event takes place as part of Seafood Expo Global, you need to abide by the Expo’s policies and security measures. Cloakroom facilities will not be available. You may bring coats and small bags into the auditorium. For security reasons, large items will not be permitted.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

To guarantee speedy entry, we recommend you bring your ticket either electronically on your phone or as a printout. We scan your barcode to understand attendance. If you do not have your ticket then we can check off your name from our list. You will also need your Seafood Expo Global pass and government issued photo ID to gain access to the Expo.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

We can only guarantee entry to those who have registered in advance and arrive on time. The named person on the ticket must be present.

How do I attend the live event online?

Details of how to attend the live event will be shared via email with those registered.

How do I receive a recording of the event?

All registered participants will be sent a recording of the event and any reference materials via email within 2 days of the event.
