Dr. Aliyah Griffith, PhD — marine scientist and founder of Mahogany Mermaids — dives into the “secret” skills that don’t show up in textbooks. From coral reef resilience work to community leadership, her journey shows how marine science takes creativity, problem-solving and purpose. As the first African American to earn a graduate degree in marine science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Griffith now inspires students of color to see themselves in marine science. Join her to explore what this career really looks like beyond the fins and fieldwork.
