About this Event

Bill Dempsey is a modern day shanty man who spent five years living, working, and sailing a square rigged tall ship. He has performed at major sea music festivals on both the east and west coasts of the United States, and was the musical director for the Dana Point Tall Ships Festival for 26 years. Since retiring from his day job as a public school teacher, he has taught privately and conducted workshops for all ages.

Bill's concert this evening will feature some sing-along pieces, and he will share some nautical lore and the stories behind the songs. Copies of his two CD's, "Shanty Man" and "Round The Horn", will be available. This show is suitable for all ages.

You can learn more about Bill Dempsey at his website, http://www.billdempseymusic.net/, and there is an clip of his performance at the Topanga Banjo & Filddle Contest below.

This show will occur on the closing day of a show of maritime art by painter Chris Butler, former staff artist for the Queen Mary, and fantastically detailed ship models by Adam England. Arrive early to enjoy the art!
