Join the McFaddin-Ward House (MWH) for "Sea of Mud: Retreat of the Mexican Army After San Jacinto & The McFaddin Family at San Jacinto" featuring speakers Gregg Dimmick and Bill Wilson.The lecture will be held Thursday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the MWH Visitor Center Lecture Hall, located at 1906 Calder Avenue, in Beaumont.
Gregg Dimmick is an avocational archaeologist and has co-authored two archaeological reports on excavations of the retreating Mexican army of 1836. He participated in archaeological digs at both the Fannin Battleground as well as the San Jacinto Battleground, and authored "Sea of Mud, The Retreat of the Mexican Army After San Jacinto, An Archaeological Investigation."
In relation to his work on the archaeology of the Mexican army, he has appeared on the History Channel and the Discovery Channel. Gregg Dimmick M.D. is a retired pediatrician and lives in Wharton, Texas.
Bill Wilson was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas and is a 6th generation Texan, continuing the family tradition of cattle ranching and farming in Jefferson County. In addition to his personal businesses and investments, he oversaw the McFaddin family offices in Beaumont for over 42 years.
Now retired, Bill enjoys working on the family ranch, cooking on his restored chuckwagon, and sharing stories and family lore about the McFaddin experience in the early years of Texas.
McFaddin-Ward House lectures are free and open to the public, but space is limited. Doors open at 6 p.m.
