Sea Kayaking Skills for Beginners - 5 Week Course - 7:15pm - Thursdays - Round O, Enniskillen - JUNE
Advertisement
Our Learn to Paddle - Sea Kayaks course for Beginners is a progressive set of five outdoor lessons using sea kayaks, also known as touring kayaks. These are single seater kayaks, designed for travelling in wider bodies of water. These are stable, straight tracking kayaks which are ideal for exploring our loughs and slow moving rivers.
This 5-week course is perfect for beginners as no previous experience is needed, and no need to be able to swim. The course is also suitable for those who have paddled in while. It aims to introduce basic kayaking skills for new paddlers and help others build on the skills they already have. Ideal for anyone who is thinking about summer trips on the lough or who is just starting out on their paddlesports adventure. All participants will be fitted with correctly sized buoyancy aids and kept under close supervision. Coaching to suit you, based on your experience and ability, by our friendly, qualified instructors, in a safe and progressive way. You will be encouraged to become more water confident with each session.
Equipment:
We provide: All the paddlesports equipment needed - kayaks, canoes or SUPs, spraydecks paddles, buoyancy aids and helmets.
You bring: Personal paddling wear. You can wear a wetsuit if you have one, or normal outdoor sports clothes; fleeces or tracksuit and top, to suit the weather. Please wear shoes to get wet and a waterproof coat. Get in touch if you need more advice about what gear to wear or buy. You must bring a full set of dry clothes, shoes and a towel.
Facilities:
Parking is available and there are toilet facilities, though these are not always open.
There are no changing or showering facilities. For these courses most people find it best to arrive ready to go paddling. Afterwards, you can change at your car, or drive straight home. For changing at your car (as many paddlers do), a changing towel and mat to stand on make this a much easier and discreet process. Or some prefer stay in their paddling kit and use a large bin liner to sit on in the car, and change at home. We do recommend that you shower soon after paddling.
Times: 7pm to 8:30pm (7:15-8:15pm on the water). Please arrive dressed in your paddling kit, to prepare for the session and have safety equipment fitted.
Dates: 5 x Thursday evenings; 4th, 11th, 18th 25th June and 2nd July.
Location: The Round O, Enniskillen
