Making Our Neighbourhood is a free outdoor community gathering from Sounds Between CIC and friends, taking place on Sunday 19 July 2026, 12pm to 6pm, in Burgess Park. The idea is simple: neighbourhood is not something done to us, it is something we make together.
Inspired by the food, market and music cultures of Walworth, East Street, Elephant & Castle, Camberwell and Peckham, we are bringing together musicians, cooks, crafters, traders, charities and community groups for a day of live music, food, talks, workshops, creative stalls and shared tables in the relaxed environment of the park. Free and open to all ages.
What is community as a practice? How do we see neighbourhood not only as a place we inhabit, but as a place we shape and produce? Come help us answer that through food, music, care and action.

VOLUNTEERS, WE NEED YOU
Days like this only happen because people give a few hours. Welcoming neighbours, supporting stalls and artists, helping with setup and pack down. If you can offer even a couple of hours, please email [email protected] with the subject line Volunteer. We would love to have you on the team.
SOLIDARITY TICKETS: EVERY PENNY DOUBLES
The event is completely free. But if you are able to, please consider a solidarity ticket. Every penny is match funded, so whatever you give is doubled, and it all goes straight back into the creative and cultural industries: paying local artists fairly, supporting community groups and keeping days like this free for everyone.

Sounds Between CIC is a South East London live music and culture platform supporting global sounds, diasporic artists, folk, roots and experimental music, and grassroots cultural work. We have hosted 14+ events with artists from more than 10 countries, and Making Our Neighbourhood is our most ambitious day yet.
