Join artist and educator Victor Escobedo for a two-part workshop, learn a brief overview of the Cholq’ij or Tozlkin Maya calendar or count of days, and sculpt your own personal day sign in correlation with the energy frequency at the time of your birth.
Students will learn their personal Maya Tzolkin Glyph based on an Ancient Maya count of days. In a two part class, students will learn to sculpt their individual palm sized glyph, glaze and how to wall mount their piece.
Victor is a 1st generation Ceh Pech Yucatec Maya descendant. He has shown his work in galleries and museums in California, New Mexico, and throughout Colorado. Escobedo is a Redline artist in residence Alumni, a member of the Chicano Muralists of Colorado project, a former artist in residence at the Children’s Museum of Denver and teacher.
