Snug Concerts and aKAZI.ATL are teaming up for an unforgettable night where music and visual art meet in the heart of Atlanta.Experience the artistry of Althea SullyCole, a multi-instrumentalist and ethnomusicologist whose music centers the kora, a 21-stringed harp from the Mandé region of West Africa. Her playing blends deep tradition with personal expression, creating a sound that is as rich in history as it is in beauty.
The performance will take place inside Peace, Reconciliation and the Potential for Transformation, a powerful exhibition by Mozambican sculptor Gonçalo Mabunda, presented in collaboration with Emory University’s Michael C. Carlos Museum and its fall exhibition Insistent Presence. Surrounded by sculptures made from decommissioned weapons, guests will witness an evening where sound and sculpture speak to transformation and connection.
Held in the historic Haugabrooks building on Auburn Avenue, this night invites you to slow down, listen closely, and feel deeply. Take a listen to Althea’s stunning debut album Due West ahead of time and come ready to be transported.
