About this Event

Be sure to join us for our annual SCULPT event and reception, featuring music by Baja Caravan and Annie Anna, food by Humbleboard, and an opportunity to meet the artists on Sunday, October 18th, from 4-6pm at the Tucson J.

Sculpt is our annual celebration of sculpture. Serving as both the reception for the indoor sculpture exhibition and a welcome to newly installed works in the Jill Rosenzweig Memorial Sculpture Garden, Sculpt invites the community to slow down, spend time with art, and connect with the work, the artists, and each other.

This year's theme, Making Space, is inspired in part by the idea that meaningful spaces don't just pop into existence but are built with intentionality. In Jewish tradition, the Mishkan (portable sanctuary) was built collectively, with each person contributing what they could to create a space for presence and connection. Sculpt draws on this idea: how do we create spaces in our own lives that hold beauty, reflection, and meaning? What do we choose to surround ourselves with, and why?

Set in the quiet month of Cheshvan, just after the High Holidays, Sculpt offers a grounded opportunity to wander the garden, hear directly from artists, and consider what it might mean to live with, not just encounter, art.

With live music, artist talks, and food and drink, the garden becomes a space of exploration and connection. You can stay for ten minutes or two hours, whatever your pace may be, and become part of what makes our collective mishkan here, in our Sonoran desert.
