About this Event

Come join us for a fun and interactive calligraphy scroll workshop led by a talented Japanese calligraphy artist, Yuri Misoshi, at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center! Learn the art of traditional Japanese sumi calligraphy, Shodo, “way of writing” to create one of the kind Japanese calligraphy scroll to display with your bonsai trees.

Please come to the morning session, and have lunch with us if you are attending the workshop in the afternoon.

This is a hands-on workshop for the Atlanta Bonsai Society members. Please bring ideas and images for your scroll’s calligraphy and blank papers (e.g., newspaper, copy paper) to practice sumi calligraphy with.

This registration includes an imported Japanese traditional blank scroll and 3 shikishi, Japanese art boards with high-quality washi paper, elegantly framed with a gold foil border. Please note your preference for a scroll design at registration. The club will provide sumi ink, sumi brush and other necessary supplies.

Whether you're a beginner or have experience, Yuri will guide you through the process step by step. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to get your hands dirty and create your very own calligraphy scroll.
