The 90-minute documentary We Will Dance Again: Surviving October 7th, by Yariv Mozer is a harrowing glimpse into the brutal assault on partygoers at the Nova Music Festival - one of the sites in Israel attacked by Hamas on October 7, 2023. This film focuses on events at Nova, features mobile phone footage captured by survivors and presents a minute-by-minute account of the Hamas attack. It includes personal stories and shows how a celebration of life turned into a nightmare as festivalgoers had to make choices that would determine whether they lived or died. The film does not discuss the context of the wider conflict or the delayed response from Israeli authorities. The unflinching, exhaustive and moving movie shines a light on the experience of the dancers at the Nova music festival that day.
This film is graphic and disturbing, so we are creating a container to watch it together. Please come on time.
5:15pm: Doors open
5:30pm: Brief discussion facilitated by a trauma expert who will help us keep a safe space.
5:45pm: Movie screening
7:15pm: Movie ends, at which time we will offer support to process and listen to music specially curated to move us to dance as a form of release and resilience.
This movie falls on the 8th day of Chanukah, which is commonly known as Zot Chanukah. As we light the last menorah candle the night before, the eighth and final day of Hanukkah commemorates the miracle and symbolizes our survival. Please come to hold and share the light alive in all of us.
As part of the event, we are gathering donations for The Tribe of Nova Foundation to support long-term trauma recovery for survivors and the bereaved families.
