In celebration of the launch of Bon Iver’s new album fABLE, join us for the premiere of the previously unreleased triptych film SABLE, a poignant collaboration between Wisconsin artists Bon Iver and Erinn Springer.
SABLE, depicts a journey of introspection and emotional evolution. Through minimalist visuals and contemplative imagery, the three-song EP from Bon Iver explores themes of solitude, reflection, and the passage from personal turmoil to resolute hope. Three individual videos were released in the fall of 2024 alongside the songs of SABLE,: “THINGS BEHIND THINGS BEHIND THINGS”, “S P E Y S I D E”, and “AWARDS SEASON”. These three songs comprise the opening tracks of Bon Iver’s new album SABLE, fABLE, launching April 11, 2025.
This screening is included with Museum admission and is free for Members. Admission tickets are available at the door or online. The film plays continuously all day in Lubar Auditorium, with screenings starting every 30 minutes.

About the artists
Bon Iver has generated worldwide praise from critics alike since the release of the band’s debut album For Emma, Forever Ago in 2007. After assembling a talented live ensemble and touring across the world, the project released their highly anticipated 2011 follow-up album Bon Iver, Bon Iver. Met with further critical acclaim, the release netted Bon Iver Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Music Album and Best New Artist. The band received further commendations after 2016 release 22, A Million and 2019’s i,i received several Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for the latter. Further touring and sonic exploration in recent years has carried the band through much of its second decade. Most recently, Bon Iver released their EP SABLE, and announced their fifth album fABLE, which will be the project’s first full-length record in six years.
Erinn Springer is a photographer from Dunn County, Wisconsin. Her work explores temporality through cycles of the land, memory, and mortality. Often working with her immediate family and extended community, her elemental and intimate portrayals of everyday life reflect upon the relationship of imagination and reality. Her debut monograph Dormant Season was published in 2023 to international acclaim, reviewed in The New Yorker as an honest and incandescent portrait of the rural Midwest. Her work has been featured in and commissioned by publications and brands such as The New York Times, Die Zeit, Le Monde, NPR, Vogue, Loewe, and others.
