Join us on Thursday, May 29th from 6 to 8pm as we enjoy a FREE screening of the Modern Irish Poets & Playwrights class from the College for Older Adults in Abingdon, VA.
Emory & Henry University Professor Scott Boltwood has made numerous visits to Ireland and has done extensive research and writing about Ireland’s rich literary heritage. We’ll look at a selection of poems by the iconic late 20th-century poet Seamus Heaney (1939-2013), as well as poems by some of his contemporaries, like Nuala ní Dhomhnaill and Sinéad Morrisey. This will provide us an opportunity to think about such perennial Irish themes as language, family & tradition.
FREE. Ages 18+. No registration required.
