New York in the 1970s. Donald J. Trump (Sebastian Stan) is still at the beginning of his career. But he is determined to exceed the expectations of his overbearing father. He wants to become rich and recognized in the Manhattan real estate industry on his own. He just doesn't know how - until he meets the man who will become one of the most influential figures in his rise: Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), the shrewd legal advisor and fixer in the political business, the man for all occasions. Cohn immediately recognizes the enormous potential of the young Trump, his attractive appearance, his thirst for knowledge, his unconditional will to get to the top, whatever the cost. Meticulously, step by step, he trains his protégé in how to amass power and wealth by any means. The beginning has been made. A beginning of truly historic proportions.
After the screening, we will discuss the relationship between biographical drama film and reality, as well as the interplay between media and politics in the United States, with a special focus on the U.S. presidential election.
Please note that the age restriction for the movie is twelve years (FSK 12).
