Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific In-Person Training
Who should attend?
This training is required of Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters. It is recommended for all registered adult members of Scouts BSA troops.
What will I learn?
You will learn of the role of the Scoutmaster and other adults in the troop. You will become aware of the roles of youth leaders and especially the Senior Patrol Leader. The importance of the Patrol Method will be emphasized and you will learn how to plan and conduct effective troop meetings and outdoor activities. You will understand your relationship with the troop committee and the importance of the annual planning conference and Patrol Leaders Council. In addition, you will associate with other enthusiastic Scouters and develop lasting and beneficial relationships.
Training Code S24 will be awarded upon graduation. To become BASIC TRAINED you must complete the Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (in-person course) and Hazardous Weather Training (on-line at my.scouting.org).
Please complete Hazardous Weather Training prior to attending the course. Please bring evidence of your completion of this requirement
