The next Tampa Jazz Club event at HC's Mainstage Theatre in Ybor City on Sunda,y, February 22 at 3 PM will feature jazz vocalist Scotty Wright. These performances are part of the HC Visual and Performing Arts Series.
Scotty has become a mainstay in Tampa Bay after years performing in San Francisco Bay. And for this show, Scotty has decided now is the time to sing what's Wright. As a songwriter, Scotty will present several of his own original compositions.
So, what's left? The time-honored classics, and jazz standards, of course! The treasure trove of melodies that have withstood the test of time. Scotty’s songs are about the people, places, thoughts, and feelings he has known and experienced over the years. Every song, (including the ones he didn’t write) is performed with love and respect for the melody and the lyrics. The Scotty Wright Quintet glides smoothly, swingingly, from one song, one mood, one groove to the next, inviting listeners along for a very satisfying ride.
For this concert, Scotty is joined by some of our favorite Bay Area players: Pete Carney - saxophone, Pablo Arencibia - piano, Joe Porter - bass, Stephen Bucholtz - drums, and Scotty Wright, voice.
