About this Event
In March 2023, SCLD is hosting Scotland's learning disability and gender based violence conference. The purpose of the conference is to bring together women with learning disabilities, service providers, policy and legal experts, as well as decision-makers from across Scotland to discuss critical issues facing women with learning disabilities who have experienced gender based violence and what we can all do to ensure a fairer Scotland where women with learning disabilities can live full, safe, loving and equal lives.
Confirmed keynote speakers are:
Anna Ritchie Allan- Co-chair of the First Ministers National Advisory Council for Women and Girls and Executive Director of Close the Gap.
Dr Gillian Macintyre- Senior Lecturer in Social Work and Social Policy at Strathclyde University
Leeanne Clark- A lifetime member of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and one of the Young Women's Movement Scotlands 2022, 30 under 30 women and an author.
Members of People First (Scotlands) Equally Safe Group.

More keynote speakers and workshop hosts will be confirmed closer to the date.
At this conference, SCLD will launch our research report examining the barriers and facilitators to women with learning disabilities accessing support and justice when they have experienced gender based violence.
This event is free to attend, and delegates can expect a catered lunch.
A safe and quiet space will be available on the day, as well as an accessible bathroom provided by PAMIS.
