About this Event
INTRODUCTION
Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies?! Sweet Thymes Bakes is here to help! In this 1.5 -hour class, we'll cover the basics to sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with Royal Icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you'll need is provided at class along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).
We'll be running to the endzone with football-themed cookies during this 1.5 hour cookie decorating class! Don't miss out on this fun 6-cookie, 4-icing class - it's a great way to kick-off the big game!
You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class! More details on refunds, things to bring, credits, and FAQs are below - looking forward to having you with us.
ABOUT THE CLASS
This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We'll be decorating some fun game-themed cookies, but this sugar stadium will sell out faster than Taylor Swift at a Chiefs game - so sign up ASAP!
We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!
This class is on February 8, 2024 and started at 2:45 pm – 4:15 pm sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family - we have seating for up to 20 people! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!
This class is good for ages 10 and up, but if you'd like to leave the kiddos at home, purchase an add-on kit (more on that below)! The kits are great for kids at home, plus - we'll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach them yourself!
The class will be helped at the Classic Rock Coffee in Springfield, Missouri located at 1900 W Sunset, Springfield, MO.
THINGS TO BRING
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!
· Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
· Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.
· Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
· Bring a mask if you’d like! These classes follow the state health guidelines, but if you’d like to wear a mask throughout class – please do!
· Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
ABOUT SWEET THYMES
Who doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Sweet Thymes is all about!
These classes are based in Springfield, Missouri and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.
For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. Oh – and bring eyeglasses so you can see the instructional PowerPoint if your eyesight is anything like mine. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 1.5 hour class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!
A little about me – I’ve been baking sugar cookies since 2009– and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). My favorite cookie themes to decorate are holiday's and special events – but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!
Oh yeah - I have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to sign up for our newsletter so you can get in on the cookie action!
CANELATION / REFUND / SICK POLICY
Note - our classes no longer require masks for vaccinated individuals. Our classes follow the current recommendation by the Springfield / Greene County government and health organizations.
Class Masking Policy:
You will not be required to wear a mask throughout the class; however, you can choose to wear a mask if you'd like! I provide masks, hand sanitizer, disinfectant, and wipes for attendees. Each station is disinfected along with the venue before and after your event.
Showing Symptoms Before 7Days Out:
If you’re sick prior to the 7-day refund cutoff, you can cancel for a full refund! And might we say thank you for quarantining. To request a refund through Eventbrite, follow these steps: request a refund Eventbrite automatically creates an account with the email address you use to purchase tickets. If the event organizer allows refund requests for the event you purchased tickets for, you’ll see the option to request a refund in your account:
- Log in to Eventbrite.
- Go to Tickets.
- Find the order you want refunded, then select Request a refund.
- Enter your details and submit your request. The organizer should respond within five business days.
Select Contact the organizer if you don’t see the option to request a refund or you have a question about the status of your refund request.
Showing Symptoms After 7-Days Out:
For any sickness symptoms prior to your class’s start time but after the 7-day refund policy, please email us before your class’s start time, and we’ll give you a credit for the next class!
You Don't Show Up or Email Prior To Class:
If I do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, I won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit even if you're sick. So please reach out before class if you’re feeling sick!
DIY / ADD-ON KITS
Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and I’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.
How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.
ALLERGEN DISCLAIMER / CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY / WEATHER POLICY / FEES DISCLAIMER
Allergens: Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: All-purpose flour, granulated sugar, butter, sour cream, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, powdered sugar, meringue powder, corn syrup, water.
Please note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens: Tree nuts, eggs, dairy, fish, crustacean shellfish, peanuts, wheat and soybeans.
Please consider your allergies before registering.
Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including your Eventbrite fees.
Classes with attendance below [Minimum Attendance] will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance 8 days before the event is canceled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.
Weather Policy: Sometimes Jack Frost doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules, and Mother Nature seems to be takin’ notes. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event, but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!
Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
