What can you do to help your children and grandchildren survive in a hotter world? Why is it so hard to stop global warming? How do we know it’s really irreversible? Face these important topics head-on with engineer Craig Smith, Ph.D., coauthor of Irreversible: What Can We Do?Dr. Smith has worked in industry on nearly every type of electrical generating facility, including hydroelectric plants, geothermal, waste-to-energy, coal-fired, nuclear, natural gas-fired, and solar power. With coauthor Bill Fletcher, Craig has written three books on global warming and climate change, as well as several on energy conservation and efficiency. He has a B.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in engineering from UCLA, where he also taught as an assistant professor of nuclear engineering.
No tickets or reservations needed, but note that Science Pub is a popular program. Early birds get good seats, order food and drink at leisure, and enjoy a raffle to support science education and win Museum swag. Arriving close to 6:30 may land you in an overflow room or without a seat.
This event is part of the Museum’s ongoing Science Pub series of free science talks held on the second Monday of every month. For more information about Science Pub, contact Kelsey Perry at [email protected].
