Planning to participate in the Mid-Columbia or Washington State Science & Engineering Fair in March, have a school science project, or just love science? This is a drop-in session to assist scientists in grades 1-12 with getting started on their project and their fair paperwork.
The Mid-Columbia fair is open to students in grades 6-12, and the Washington State one is for students in grades 1-12, but 6th-12th graders must enter the Mid-Columbia fair first. Registration is already open for the fairs. Students will need to create an account on the fair registration portal and fill out information about their project. A parent or guardian will need to sign the forms submit them through the registration portal.
The drop-in sessions are to help students with their projects wherever they are in the process. They can get help exploring their interests, turning their ideas into a research plan, registering for the fair, completing their paperwork, doing their research, presenting their data, or even laying out their board. They will learn how to use library resources like ProQuest SIRS Discoverer, ProQuest Journal Search, color printers, computers, and more. There are a limited number of project starter kits available.
Elementary students need to be accompanied by an adult.
Registration is encouraged. You can register at the following links:
