1483-344In this talk, I touch upon two topics regarded as problematic in relation to their potential effects on citizens' understanding of science and their subsequent decision making.
In the first part, I show how science denialists discursively turn dissentient scientists’ life stories into heroic martyr narratives. In the second part, I test the efficiency of two suggested approaches towards diagnosing pseudoscience on a corpus of 12 pseudoscientific peer reviewed research articles (6 on homeopathy, 6 on psychoanalysis, 2 disciplines commonly classified as pseudoscience in the relevant science-theoretical literature).
