About this Event
Science Communication and AI
Welcome to the Science Communication and AI event at the University of Aberdeen! Join us for an exciting day of exploring the intersection of science communication and artificial intelligence.
Session 1: Large Language Models (LLMs) are revolutionizing research practices by offering powerful tools to streamline and enhance common tasks, helping PhD students work more efficiently and creatively. This session is designed to provide both a conceptual understanding and hands-on experience with integrating LLMs into diverse research workflows.
Session 2: This workshop will explore some of the benefits and pitfalls of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI). Rather than focusing on well-known writing tasks, such as ChatGPT is famous for, we will explore a range of other applications, from coding to designing art installations. We will introduce writing and refining prompts to get the results you want, recording and reporting the use of GenAI for academic work and also consider the environmental cost of the technology.
You'll be working in small groups to complete tasks using GenAI. No preparation or experience is needed but please do bring a charged-up laptop or borrow one from the laptop loan service in the basement of the medical library.
