About this Event

Although Cochise County falls within the physiographic region known as the Basin and Range Province, the basic hydrology and water needs of the San Pedro Valley and the Sulphur Springs Valley are quite different and have different challenges. Nonetheless, there are lessons to be learned from decades of partnerships, studies, and work in the San Pedro Valley to protect the San Pedro River that can be used to inform efforts to conserve and recharge water supplies in the Sulphur Springs Valley. Mark Apel has over 40 years of experience working in natural resources and environmental planning and is currently working for Cochise County's Engineering and Natural Resources Department as the Environmental Projects Coordinator for recharge projects along the San Pedro River.
