About this Event

Orlando Wetlands invites you to Science & Nature Day - a one-of-a kind, hands-on educational experience for families, homeschool groups, and nature lovers of all ages.

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, the Orlando Wetlands will come alive with interactive demonstrations and learning stations led by City of Orlando professionals from the Orlando Wetlands and other Public Works departments. Watch a prescribed fire demonstraiton and learn how fire helps ecosystems thrive. See an airboat and aquatic harvestor in action and discover how we fight invasive species. Test water quality like a real scientist. Dip nets into the wetlands to catch and identify tiny creatures that keep our ecosystem running. Create usable art from recycled materials. Plan your own native wildflower garden. Touch a tractor and more! This is science you can touch, smell, and get your boots muddy in.
