About the Comedian
Shane Mauss is an award-winning comedian and science communicator, known for TV appearances on Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Comedy Central as well as popular comedy podcasts. His career took off 20 years ago when he won “Best Stand Up” at HBO’s Comedy Arts Festival, kicking off a run of late-night TV appearances and sold-out shows. Blending his natural curiosity with his love of comedy, Shane began his acclaimed podcast, Here We Are, where he has interviewed more than 400 scientists and built a reputation for making complex ideas accessible and funny. As his interest in psychedelics grew, Shane became known for describing complex trip experiences with clarity and humor, leading to appearances on major comedy podcasts and inspiring the hit animated series Tales from the Trip on Comedy Central.
Shane’s ability to tackle complex topics and combine comedy with real science has inspired many unique shows designed to get the audience thinking, including Mating Season, a comedy special about the science of mating and dating, and My Big Break, a stand-up album about injury, depression, and optimism. He is currently touring across the country in advance of two forthcoming hour-long psychedelic comedy specials, Trips, premiering on April 19, 2026.
