Science: Across the disciplines The Rose Maker
About this Event
Join us at Parkway Central Library, First Floor, Room 108 for a science film series!
This series will feature screenings and discussions of movies that explore how science is practiced across various disciplines and careers: whether it is through astronomy, investigative journalism, or botany and so forth. Film screenings will take place monthly from August 2026 - June 2027 and will be followed by a brief community discussion of film and science careers.
The film for May will be The Rose Maker (2020) directed by Pierre Pinaud (in French with English CC). This film centers on what botony, comedy, and french cinematography can teach us about rose breeding. We will discuss creating rose hybrids: a blend of botany, genetics, and horticultural artistry in this rare gem of a film.
