Science: Across the disciplines The Alpinist

Join us at Parkway Central Library, First Floor, Room 108 for a science film series!

This series will feature screenings and discussions of movies that explore how science is practiced across various disciplines and careers: whether it is through astronomy, investigative journalism, or botany and so forth. Film screenings will take place monthly from August 2026 - June 2027 and will be followed by a brief community discussion of film and science careers.

The film for December will be The Alpinist (2021) directed by Peter Mortimer and Nick Rosen. This film centers on what investigative journalism, science, and cinematography can tell us about the science of climbing. After the film we will discuss climbing as a science and a sport.
