Resurrection Lutheran Church is 70 years old! As part of our anniversary year, we're pleased to welcome Dr. Kathryn Galchutt, incoming Professor of History at Concordia University Irvine. She will be presenting on the Rev. Andrew Schulze, who planted Resurrection Lutheran Church and who brought Rev. Moses Dickinson, our first pastor, to Chicago.
Rev. Schulze was an active Lutheran voice during the Civil Rights movements of the mid 20th Century. He founded the Lutheran Human Relations Association of America and was arrested with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Albany Movement in 1962. Dr. Galchutt's lecture will focus on Schulze's life and work, especially here in Chicago, and the lessons for the 21st Century that we can learn from his ministry
This event will be held in-person at Resurrection, with any Covid restrictions to be determined at a later date. The presentation will also be streamed online at resurrectionchicago.com.
