Please join us in cheering on our Performance Program students as they present Modern Rock!
Grunge wasn't just a sound, it was a rebellion. Born out of the Pacific Northwest in the late 1980s and exploding in the early '90s, Grunge redefined what rock music could be. Raw, loud,
and unapologetically emotional, this genre stripped away the glam and polish of the previous decade and brought guitar-driven authenticity back to the forefront. In this show, students will dive into the heavy riffs of Nirvana, the brooding harmonies of Soundgarden, the fierce intensity of Alice in Chains, and the soaring hooks of Pearl Jam. They’ll explore the unique energy and attitude that made bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Hole, and
Silverchair is so iconic. Musically, Grunge offers rich opportunities for growth: distorted and layered guitar tones, melodic and gritty vocals, dynamic bass lines, and powerhouse drumming. But more than just notes and rhythms, this show challenges students to connect emotionally with the music, pushing them to deliver passionate, soul-baring performances.
