School-Based Therapy Tips

The goal of providing OT and PT services is to enhance participation in the school environment while limiting the amount of time the student is removed from his/her classroom peers. Following best practices, providers should use interventions that connect the IEP goals with the classroom learning experience in the most inclusive and beneficial service delivery model. This webinar will cover tips for the most effective 30-minute sessions inside and outside of the classroom. We will also cover strategies for quick informal assessments for writing reports. There will be a review of current assistive technology and adaptive equipment in the schools.

  About the Presenter(s):
  Christine Knafelc, OTR/L, has been working with the pediatric population for over 25 years and is the Occupational Therapy Clinical Supervisor for Therapeutic Resources School-Based Division. Christine has worked in all facets of pediatrics including early intervention, New York City DOE Schools, Charter Schools, Religious Schools, and preschools. Her vast experience in pediatrics has enabled her to mentor and coach clinicians transitioning to a school-based setting; spearheading the Pediatric Mentoring Program with Therapeutic Resources.
