About this Event
Scholars and Their Kin: Historical Explorations, Literary Experiments brings into the open the personal, professional, and historiographic complexities that ensue when scholars write intimate yet self-aware histories about their own families. This new essay collection by historians, sociologists, anthropologists, and other scholars from the U.S. and several other countries, expands the literary ambitions of personal family history while addressing questions of shame, responsibility, love, gendered and racial violence, family archives, as well as memory, omission, and misrepresentation. Please join us for a book launch discussion followed by a reception.
