It’s finally feeling like fall and Schlöpptoberween volume 5 is just around the corner. Put Sunday, November 10th on your calendar and get ready to venture through the BusyWorld on our bikes. We are sure to have a (Richard) “Scarry” good time. The ride is 1 part roaming adventure and 1 part fundraiser for Pedal Power MN. I am hoping to raise 3000 bucks this year via raffle ticket sales. The community is flexing their generosity with some sick raffle prizes this year including a bike frame, wheel sets, fenders, hats, gloves, socks, apparel, bags, gift cards, and stickers.
The fun begins in northeast Minneapolis and we will take a meandering tootle ending with a fire near the river. A doodle map with some of the pit stops will be shared closer to the event date.
Car and truck and vehicle costumes would fit the theme but keep your fossil fuel burning “Cars and Trucks and Things That Go” at home and get ready to ride (optional) Gnar and Hucks and Janky Bandit Flow. Dressing up as cute critters in occupational uniforms is encouraged too.
A mountain bike or fat bike is definitely not needed for the terrain but both would allow for more playfulness and side quests. Besides your bike and BusyWorld costume/attire, helmet, snacks, food (pocket pizza or burrito or chicken strips or sandwich or something more tasty and substantial than candy and bars), water, beverages, layers, and bike lights will help you enjoy the day to the fullest.
Maybe you already have the following Monday (Veteran’s Day off) or maybe you don’t and might want to consider it cuz Schlöpp can be a full day (and night) affair.
That is all for now. Stay tuned for more info about starting location and how to purchase raffle tickets. Please reach out with any questions.
