About the Film: Schindler Space Architect

Schindler Space Architect is the first feature-length documentary exploring the life and works of a pioneer of modern architecture, R. M. Schindler, narrated by Meryl Streep and Udo Kier, featuring renowned architects Frank Gehry, Steven Holl, Thom Mayne, among many others. Schindler changed forever the architectural landscape of Los Angeles and laid the foundation for what is now considered the California lifestyle of indoor-outdoor living. This documentary is an investigation into Schindler’s philosophy of Space Architecture and reexamines his complicated relationship with his mentor, Frank Lloyd Wright, and his former friend turned rival, Richard Neutra. A true original, Schindler experimented and invented over a period of 30 years. The film affirms the singular genius of one man and the eternal challenge every artist faces to stay true to their vision.

About the Filmmaker: Valentina B. Ganeva

Born in Bulgaria, Valentina B. Ganeva is a graduate of the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia. She holds a BA degree in Film History and Theory and made her mark as a freelance journalist for major Bulgarian publications. After relocating to Los Angeles, Valentina became an exec. producer at Murex Films, Inc., a Santa Monica based post-production house. During her time with the company, Valentina built an extensive resume as an editor as well. Her lifelong interest in art, architecture and design merged with her knowledge and experience in video production culminated in her first film, “Schindler Space Architect”. She served as documentary’s writer, producer, director, editor, and lead researcher.
